On to the next project which is another table runner, this time out of Asian fabrics from Keepsake Quilting. This was pieced from fabrics from the Oriental Scrapbag I bought from them recently. All their Oriental fabrics are wonderful. I like the Japanese themed fabrics and have purchased many a medley from KQ now. This was a run through of a project to see if my own combinations are going to work out. I designed this very simply and tonight it is pinned for FMQ. I just love the look and feel of these fabrics. All this color on a snowy day cannot be beat. The backing fabric is an umbrella print in muted orange tones with multi-colored sun umbrellas on it. Some years ago I had bought a remnant of this same fabric, and I was surprised to see it still on sale at Joann's when I went out to get backing last week. Right now JA's has a nice array of Asian prints in stock. That is really my favorite theme for the present.

Pinwheel Quilt Binding...
The fabric I chose for the binding is a lovely red and white small floral from Keepsake Quilting. It is 108" wide quilt backing cotton and very nice fabric. I had purchased enough to use this fabric as backing for another quilt and as binding for this one. Joann's has such blah quilt backing fabric. I wanted something really nice for this quilt that would look nice with the older fabrics used in the making of the quilt. This was really the first project for 2014, and now that it is done, I can start sewing the blocks for the new table runner. I am making an all Asian fabric table runner, which will be about 20x60. Trying a simple block 6" square, and going darks to lighters to lights....seeing how that will work out.
