Getting ready to start sewing the blocks of the Shirt Quilt 2017. All blocks cut, and it will be a 9 patch. Red patch in the middle of each 9 patch block. I ordered the Dream Wool batting from Missouri Star, and it surely feels wonderful through the plastic, so I am looking forward to seeing how this quilts! The backing will be the busy print with the paisleys you see lying under the piles of blocks. Writing about it makes me feel inspired, so it could make me kick off the work this weekend! In the meantime, it's been a mending sort of week - hemming pants. :) The Viking loves that job though, so it was a pleasure to set up the Viking again.
I added Bonlux lighting to the harp of the Viking when I set it up last weekend. WOW....what a difference. And no lamps to get in the way when you are sewing!

Yay for being excited about a new project! I'm sure you'll have fun. Boy, that IS a lot of light shining on your work. Seeing what you're doing is always good. :)
Thanks glorm! I did get the pants hemmed and now I am making a detour before quilting. Making some cat bed covers out of scraps and pieces of double sided quilted fabrics left over from other projects over the years - uke cases, cat beds, little zippered bags, machine covers etc. :) Trying to use up fabric I have stashed here and there! Yes, those harp lights are great - whatever brand! :)
I'll be so interested in your experience with the wool batting. I am finally making a quilt for our bed, although it is on hold since hubby volunteered me to make a charity quilt for a raffle. I am thinking of using wool for mine, but I do love the texture in a washed quilt. I've heard that there is less shrinkage in the wool, therefore less texture after it's washed. I'll be waiting for you to try it!
Thanks deep1084, I will update the blog when I do that quilting! I don't wash the quilts right away after I am done, and I prewash all my fabrics. Sooner or later a quilt will have that texture you speak of! :) Right now my mind is veering toward a flannel backing which I will need to order. :)
