Two Asian Print Fabrics Kitty Quilts finished...

Did two little cat quilts from my scraps. It is fun and turns out so pretty each time! This one above is the largest and is a good fit in the living room on the cat resting place on our long coffee table. :) The one with the most blue in it is smaller and rests beside my Pfaff on my sewing table. :)

Here is a picture of the binding process. I had the Elna set up for quilting the large quilt I am working on, and so the Pfaff was up to bat as the binding machine. It goes fine when you engage the IDT. :)

Crane Squares Quilt 2023 in Process...

I finally got this up and running. Started last Fall. It is quite heavy and that is why I set up the way I did - trying to reduce drag by giving the quilt a lot of working space. I use two of my Gidget tables together all the time so moving one machine is easy enough, and then I set up the additional ironing board I bought a few years back as more space in front of the tables and to my left side. This works pretty well. Flannel backing is heavy. Using Magnifico 2164 from Superior Threads because it is a shimmery silver, and on the bottom - Sew Fine #60 preloaded bobbins in a darkish gray. Backing from eQuilter as is the Warm & Natural batting.

Sewing Machine Magic ... Bought the Book...

Bought this book because it looked interesting, and because it has a lot of sewing machine feet illustrations of different sorts for different machines. There is a nice rundown of the kinds of shanks, the feet that fit, and how to use the feet she mentions.  Although I am venerable in this field and have lots of feet for lots of machines, past an present, the information will be valuable to so many both beginners and advanced sewers.  As I get into more of the book I will write more here.

I was surprised to see that she includes projects. In general I don't buy project books much unless I specifically want to make one of the items illustrated. SO - I had not noticed any mention of included projects, although there well may have been a mention. However, these projects directly relate to the use of the feet she includes. For example, there are free hand monogrammed pillows, a little quilt including binding instructions , and an old art - how to hemstitch napkins! There is a clever kimono pattern, and a cross body zippered bag included. All in all this book was a great buy and I might even try a project or two.
