Scrubs with Sophia Form and Embellishments...

Scrubs have been in my to do pile awhile, and I really wanted to see those cute little garments done. In two days I whipped up this pattern from Too Cute   on Etsy. It really goes together well, and the only modification I made was in the pants - I turned the pattern into a no side seams pant. Easier to run that up. I use the method on the Nancy Zieman 18" doll videos to do the pants - where you sew the front seam, then do a casing and elastic, then sew the back seam, then fold the inseams together and sew up the whole inseam down one leg and up the middle and down the other! Works so well!  Next time, I think I will do a one piece faux wrap though - I can do that with this pattern I am pretty sure! I made my own binding as well and applies to back, flipped over and applied to font. I really like self-made binding finishes.

Jada looks so happy with her new scrubs and her stethoscope! In order to get a stethoscope I had to buy a little medical kit from AMAZON. It is much much nicer than the description on AMAZON too and so cute! The whole little kit is a sweet present for a little girl for her 18" doll.  Meanwhile, I bought a Sophia's Doll Dress Form which is really nice! Again, another great product from Sophia's. Here is the form with my sweet Zoe doll I renamed May.

I have an outfit cut out for May that may rest on that dress form soon!  Here is the form in use.

And then I got the two little 14" dresses back off the dolls and added an embellishment to each dress. They had been looking at me over the weeks and looked so plain. Eyelet added to the little green and yellow one, and a rick-rack trim at the waist to the pink print dress. I love how they look now! Just a touch. I am not one for the over-the-top embellishments, but a small touch adds interest.

Asian Lap Quilt 2021 Finished...

Specs on this: So Fine #40 variegated greens in top, OMNI in a tan on the bobbin, Used a run of lovely fabric I bought at one of the Vermont Quilt Festivals. The backing is a lovely flannel with a scatter small floral pattern. I found it on AMAZON from Fabric.com. The squares are from Keepsake Quilting. This went together rather fast - I usually take months to make a quilt. I did wavy lines up and down the quilt with my AcuFeed Open Toe Foot on my Elna 720.  Foot Pressure on 1 because of the thickness of this quilt. No problems, even with the double layer of W&N. It is such lovely batting. My one hint from now on though, is to cut a much wider binding on a quilt with double batting. I had some issues getting that binding cut at 2.5" over the edges!! I hope it will be very warm to cuddle under to watch TV!!

101 Masks Total...

Again with the masks. Hoping this is the last go on masks. Had a request for solid colors. Had knit remnants and some flannel as well so I made two dark green and two dark maroon.  This brings my total to 101 masks over the last ten months.  These are a modified Deaconess pattern with MimiG elastic as usual for my masks. Cannot beat that elastic application.  Meanwhile I am working on a lap quilt and some other  things...

First Two Tees Done of Four...

Yes, I DID sew these two fabrics up for me. This fabric is from Girl Charlee and is called Liverpool Bullet Double Knit.  Plenty fun looking I admit, but a real joy to sew on! No kidding, this was wonderful to sew. I just turned under that neckline too and it was easy. The fabric is like a much nicer, smoother medium weight double knit from the old days. Progress has been made! These were the first two in my four Tee pattern trials (the fifth is scrapped)...sort of wearable muslins I guess. I made the Tees without any alterations except the sleeve pattern. I always enlarge the sleeve. I will apply my shoulder template when I make more. First thing to do is make the other two and decide which pattern I like best.  I made the blue fabric above into a Classic Tee from Always Autumn, seen in the picture below. I like the armhole fit but the body will need to be a bit larger. The pink I made out of KWIK SEW 2619 - old white paper real one - both patterns shown here:

Here am I in the first two tees. I did use the serger on both of them. Went so fast. Then finished on the sewing machine - hems and neckline. You could have an entire wardrobe in a couple of days with knits and a serger - that's for sure.

I think I can wear them next Summer - at least around the house. :) They feel fine on as well. Maybe I can lose ten pounds and the blue one will be OK...I see that shoulders need to be less wide but that's regular on patterns for me. My template will adjust that next time around.  I like the higher armhole on the blue.
